Community Service

Girls Inc. is happy to partner with high schools, colleges, and traffic courts  around the Bay Area in providing opportunities for structured and meaningful placements for community service.  We hope that your service requirement will develop into the best part of your week and that both you and the girls in our programs will look forward to having you continue long after your service hours are complete.  If you are the leader of a community or corporate group and are interested in scheduling a day of service, please call the Volunteer Manager at 510-357-5515 x220.  Otherwise, read on!

Is Girls Inc. the right place for YOUR community service?  If you answer YES to the following four questions, then keep reading to learn your next steps to complete your service.

  1. Are you are a woman OR man who has values that are in alignment with the Girls Inc. mission and values?  (For details go to http://www.girlsinc-alameda.org/about .)
  2. Do you have at least 40 hours of service to complete?
  3. Do you have availability at least one weekday (Monday-Friday) to volunteer in the afternoons between 2-6pm?
  4. Are you willing to be fingerprinted?  This costs about $40 (pricey, but less than a traffic ticket).
If you answered YES to all the questions above, here is what you do next:
  1. Review your options for community service here.
  2. Fill out the volunteer application online.
  3. Once you have completed ALL of these steps, call to schedule an interview.  The volunteer manager can be reached at 510-357-5515 x220.
  4. During the interview we will discuss your skills, availability, and options for training and placement.
As you can tell, we take community service seriously and we hope you will consider Girls Inc. to fulfill your requirement.  We have over 700 volunteers annually who inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold.  We hope you will join our team!
