Mental Health Consultation Services
Preschool teachers and public school teachers are in a unique position. They are often the first to detect the psychological problems, developmental delays, and emotional troubles which preschoolers and public school students may be experiencing. In many instances, child and teen difficulties are identified at a later point in time - when their symptoms and behaviors have become extreme and visible. These behaviors can introduce children and teens into the judicial system, residential treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, or suspension/expulsion from school. Early and apt identification for psychological and emotional problems thereby reduce the likelihood of such outcomes. Teachers' timely identification of these problems can make a world of difference for a family being able to easily access needed resources in a manner that is free of stigma.
Mental health consultation services benefit students, families, teachers, and schools directly and indirectly by working with teachers and staff at their campuses and preschools.
