National Day of Service

On September 11, 2009, over 200 children will assist 50 volunteers from Girls Incorporated of Alameda County to participate in a Day of Service that focuses on creating lasting change in the community and encouraging girls to recognize the value of volunteerism.

Shiyama Clunie from AT&T (at left) also attended to present a donation to Girls Inc. Intern LaBree (in center) gave the guests a tour of the technology program, where visitors met with girls as they were writing their HTML coding for the websites they are creating.

Equal Pay for Women: First Bill Signed by President Obama

The Ledbetter Act, regarding equal pay for women, was the first bill signed into law by President Obama. At Girls Inc. we believe that every girl has the right to "prepare for interesting work and economic independence." Prioritizing this Act to sign first, Obama has displayed his focus on securing equality and has brought us one step closer to securing it.
