Join Girls Incorporated of Alameda County (Girls Inc.) staff and board members as well as local officials at their recently-purchased new headquarters location, 510-16th Street, on Wednesday, February 15th at 10:00 am for the official announcement of the property purchase and kickoff of the public phase to raise the last $2.3 million to complete the capital campaign.

Girls Inc. has already quietly raised nearly 78% of its $10.85 million goal to fund the purchase and renovation of a new center in downtown Oakland---Alameda County’s first and only resource center for girls.  Read more »

On Sunday, October 23rd, 2011, Girls Inc. of Alameda County received the Global Citizen Award for Outstanding Achievement in Girls’ Education & Gender Equality from the UN Association, along with sister agencies, Girls Inc. of Island City and Girls Inc. of West Contra Costa. Selected amongst initiatives in India, Afghanistan, and beyond for impactful work in the community, Girls Inc. was the only domestic award recipient.  Read more »

On Saturday, October 1st, 2011- Girls Incorporated of Alameda County held its 20th annual Women of Taste event at the Kaiser Center Rooftop Garden. Featuring 70+ celebrated chefs, winemakers, brewmasters and more, Women of Taste boasted the best of the best in the food and beverage industry. From Wood Tavern, Pican and Brown Sugar Kitchen to Flora, Ozumo and Home of Chicken & Waffles: inspiration was squarely back on the menu. Local wineries and breweries from the Napa Valley’s St. Supery Vineyards & Cakebread Cellars to Petaluma’s Lagunitas Brewing Company were also on-hand to pour custom tastes and blends. With over 2,000 guests in attendance, this event helped raise over $200,000, benefitting Girls Inc.’s nationally acclaimed academic achievement programs for girls from underserved communities in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.  Read more »

Oakland, California (April 12, 2011) – Girls Inc. of Alameda County created a local movement last Friday at their 12th Annual Strong, Smart & Bold Luncheon. 350 guests from around the Bay Area braved the spring heat to honor U.S. Treasurer, Rosie Rios, former Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, Dr. Laura D’Andrea Tyson, and Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco Board of Directors member, Nicole Taylor.  Read more »
